1. Passengers and airline crew traveling to Zanzibar (ZNZ) must complete the "Traveler\'s Surveillance Form" at https://healthtravelznz.mohz.go.tz at most 24 hours before arrival.
2. Passengers are subject to a COVID-19 test upon arrival and quarantine until they receive a negative test result, if they do not have:
- a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival. Vaccines accepted are: AstraZeneca (SK Bioscience), AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Covishield, Covovax, Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax), Nuvaxovid (Novavax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm and Sinovac; or
- a negative COVID-19 NAAT or RT-PCR test taken at most 72 hours before departure from the first embarkation point. The test certificate must have a QR code.
- This does not apply to:
- passengers younger than 6 years;
- passengers with a COVID-19 recovery certificate issued at least 10 days and at most 180 before arrival.
3. Passengers arriving from Congo (Dem. Rep.), Egypt, France, India, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, USA, Uganda and United Kingdom are subject to a COVID-19 rapid antigen test upon arrival at their own expense. For Zanzibar, the test can be paid before departure at https://zanzibarcovidtesting.co.tz/app/home .
- This does not apply to passengers younger than 6 years.
4. Passengers traveling to Zanzibar (ZNZ) from United Arab Emirates are subject to a COVID-19 test upon arrival.

Exercise increased caution in Tanzania due to crime, terrorism, and targeting of LGBTI persons. Some areas have increased risk. Read the entire Travel Advisory.
Reconsider Travel To:
- Mtwara Region in southern Tanzania due to the threat of terrorism.
Country Summary: Violent crime, such as assault, sexual assault, robberies, mugging, and carjacking, is common. Local police may lack the resources to respond effectively to serious crime.
Terrorist groups could attack in Tanzania with little or no warning, targeting embassies, police stations, mosques, and other places frequented by Westerners. Please see the additional information below regarding the increased threat of terrorism in Mtwara Region.
Members of the LGBTI community have been arrested, targeted, harassed, and/or charged with unrelated offenses. Individuals detained under suspicion of same-sex sexual conduct could be subject to forced anal examinations.

Mtwara Region in southern Tanzania – Level 3: Reconsider Travel
There have been reports of violence in Mtwara Region in southern Tanzania. Increased activity by extremists along the southern border has led to attacks against both government and civilian targets.
